True, nobody uses "How do you do" anymore, furthermore, and maybe that's just a personal impression, but I always felt that the phrase has somewhat of a childish ring to it.
Now, since I'm already here an writing in English, I might as well comment on the series vs serial thing.
"series" is certainly more commonly used these days, but it would not surprise me if someone were to use "serial" instead. However here in good old Pennsylvania, "serial" is more commonly used when describing a series of events, rather than a series of episodes. For example, the term is "serial killer" not "series killer".
Given that I live in Pennsylvania, I, of course, oblige to the general trend, and refer to a TV-series as such, rather than calling it a TV-serial.

Wenn mich mein Englisch nicht täuscht dann würde ich serial sagen, da man serial verwendet wenn es sich um eine story handelt die im prinzip mit jeder folge fortgeführt wird. Da DC nen haupthandlungsstrang hat würde ich das so sehen. Series sagt man daher eher bei sachen wie columbo, tatort etc.
ShiKu, wir hatten beide recht ^^ Mein Bruder ist Englisch-Profi und er meint, "serial" ist theoretisch korrekt und man könnte es in meinem Satz benutzen, aber es machts niemand xD
